What did you think of… UnCruise Adventures

In this series, we ask members of our team to give us their opinion of a cruise, on which, they have recently participated. Here are three quick questions we posed to Kirsten Wise, our Senior Boutique Voyage & Cruise Specialist, after she returned from an expedition cruise onboard an UnCruise ship in Mexico’s Sea of Cortez.

Question 1: You recently cruised with UnCruise Adventures while in Mexico’s Sea of Cortez. What stood out the most about your experience?

Answer: When Jacques Cousteau referred to this region as ‘ferocious with wildlife’ – he wasn’t exaggerating! On our first morning over breakfast we were treated to hundreds of dolphins cruising alongside the ship. From then on we saw blue footed boobies, seals & whale sharks in abundance. The water is warm & crystal clear – cacti make great props for photos and you don’t see any other humans – what’s not to love?

Question 2: UnCruise are known for their immersive experience. Can you give us an example of an instance where you felt this was true?

Answer: The crew were always encouraging us to get off the ship and out into the big blue beyond. One morning we met a local Mexican family and went mule riding. All the mules were really friendly and well-behaved, except my one who had ambitions of racing in the Melbourne Cup. So whilst I hollered & bounced off into the horizon on my rogue mule, the rest of the group got to enjoy a more leisurely, civilised ride through beautiful valleys & enjoy quite lagoons. I needed a tequila after that so as luck would happen, we went for a walk to see these incredible pink & purple rock formations by the ocean. On our way back our guide stopped at a natural salt bed and pulled out a bottle of tequila and some fresh limes – best day ever!

Question 3: Would you travel again on UnCruise and, if you could take anyone with you (Celebrity or other), who would that be?

Answer: In any lifetime I would travel with UnCruise again – their passion, enthusiasm and genuine hospitality completely matches the incredible destinations they travel to. Small groups, small ships and big experiences make this company un-believable. I’d take my whole family with me next time, they’re the coolest people I know.
