What Did you think of… Sanctuary Ananda
In this series for Facebook, we ask members of our team to give us their opinion of a cruise, on which, they have recently participated. We spend tens of thousands of dollars each year in sending our team members away on our preferred products, so they will have first hand knowledge to help you choose the perfect cruise experience…
Here are three quick questions we posed to Louise Bowen, our Boutique Voyage & Cruise Specialist, after she returned from a luxury river cruise onboard Sanctuary Ananda in Myanmar.
Question 1: You recently cruised with Sanctuary Ananda in Myanmar. What stood out the most about your experience?
Answer: Hands down what stood out the most about the country, Myanmar, to me was the beautiful, gentle local people and their ancient customs. Plus the amazing Buddhist temples and pagodas, breathtakingly beautiful.
Question 2: Sanctuary are known for their luxurious onboard and off-ship experiences. Can you give us an example of an instance where you received these?
Answer: On-board, I could not talk highly enough about the food. Chef Sumet and his team excelled – from sumptuous fresh exotic fruits and hand made (on-board, that morning) croissants and bakery items for breakfast, (followed by freshly made eggs or pancakes as you wish) – to the amazing salad and carvery at lunch and then on to à la carte three course dinners with included French wines at meal times, the team at Sanctuary Ananda were faultless. Off the vessel, the amazing candlelit beach dinner. Whilst we were touring in the afternoon, the crew set up a beach extravaganza with Chef Sumet cooking fresh wok-fried Asian fusion creations. Tables with tablecloths and candles, and the amazing crew running through the sand to attend to your every need and offer your beverage of choice.
Question 3: Would you travel again on Sanctuary Cruises and, if you could take anyone with you (Celebrity or other), who would that be?
Answer: I would definitely travel with Sanctuary Cruises again, I couldn’t fault their service, itinerary, crew, luxurious fit-out and friendly hospitality. I found my new favourite celebrity on-board – Chef Sumet – apparently he was head chef at the Mandarin Oriental in Bangkok for many years and his knowledge and passion for delivering the best quality food on (and off) the ship was second to none. Actually he was so popular with everyone – I named him the rock star of the crew. I hope he’s still there the next time I get a chance to go back.
