Five free things to do in Sydney before or after your cruise

Sydney is one of the world’s most beautiful cities. From the iconic Opera House to the famous Bridge, there’s so much you can do for free in Sydney and have a fantastic time before (or after) your cruise. Here’s just five to get you started.

1. COLOURFUL CIRCULAR QUAY:
Circular Quay is a hive of activity and the gateway to all the wonderful attractions that Sydney Harbour has to offer including Sydney Harbour Bridge, The Rocks and Sydney Opera House. Take the time out to stroll though this vibrant pocket of restaurants, shops and market stalls, or, just grab a coffee and watch tourists from all over the world go by.

2. FREE WALKING TOURS
It’s nice to get the insider information on any city from a local – so take some time out and join one of Sydney’s free walking tours – try I’m Free or Sydney Greeters.

3. GORGEOUS GARDENS:
No trip to Sydney is complete without a stroll through the stunning Royal Botanic Gardens, which feature 30 hectares of tranquil gardens in the heart of the city. Established in 1816, it is the oldest scientific institution in Australia and is home to an outstanding collection of plants from Australia and overseas – and all completely free to enjoy.

4. BEAUTIFUL BEACHES:
From the rock pools at Cronulla Beach in the South, to the famous northern shores of Palm Beach where ‘Home and Away’ is filmed, the beaches of Sydney are beautiful and brimming with personality. So while Bondi may be the most famous, a dip in any of the coves and corners of the harbour city would be beaut.

5. GO BUSH
Head bush and enjoy the Spit Bridge to Manly Walk – one of Sydney’s most beautiful coastal hikes – offering a perfect mix of beaches, bushland, and stunning harbour views. This 10-kilometre trail winds past quiet coves, sparkling blue water, and shady forest paths, giving you a little bit of everything as you make your way toward Manly. Along the way, you’ll spot native wildlife, enjoy panoramic lookout points, and even pass ancient Aboriginal rock carvings. It’s an awesome walk for anyone who loves nature, fresh air, and a relaxed but rewarding adventure – and finishing in Manly means you can celebrate with great food, a swim, or a ferry ride back to the city.
