13 Night Cruise sailing from Longyearbyen to Reykjavik aboard Le Lyrial. Hotel stay pre-cruise in Oslo.

Jul 29: Arrive Oslo, Norway
Arrive in Oslo, your gateway to the Arctic. Upon arrival, make your way to the conveniently located Radisson Blu Airport Hotel. This evening, gather for a welcome briefing.

Jul 30: Longyearbyen | Gateway to Adventure
Board an early morning charter flight to Longyearbyen, the capital of Svalbard, also known as Spitsbergen, the sovereign Arctic Archipelago of Norway. It is one of the most remote groups of islands on the planet, with nearly two-thirds of its surface covered in luminous glaciers. After a tour of the tiny town and its Arctic Museum, board your luxury expedition cruiser.

Jul 31: Svalbard | Northern Outpost
Awake to your first morning aboard as your vessel cruises up the Svalbard coast. Today’s planned port of call is Ny Alesund, home to a polar research station and the northernmost post office in the world. Back aboard, enjoy a welcome dinner hosted by the Captain.

Aug 1: Svalbard | Glacial Archipelago
Today, your vessel sets course for Monacobreen. Formerly known as Monaco Bay, this glacier reaches down into Spitsbergen and is frequented by polar bear, harbor and bearded seal, walrus and a multitude of seabirds. You may also cruise through Liefdefjorden (The Love Fjord), another excellent area for spotting polar bear.

Aug 2: Svalbard | Realm of the Polar Bear
Conditions permitting, you may cruise past the cliffs of Alkefjellet. Plunging steeply into the water, these staggering cliffs harbor vast colonies of auk diving birds. This afternoon, your Captain and Expedition Team may take advantage of sea conditions and cruise along the Arctic ice edge in search of the elusive polar bear.

Aug 3: Svalbard | Austfonna Icecap
Your expedition vessel navigates around the Austfonna Icecap, one of the world’s largest icecaps, spanning over 5,000 square miles. Austfonna is renowned for its massive scale and awe-inspiring glacial waterfalls.

Aug 4: Svalbard | Tip of the Archipelago
The day’s explorations may take you to Sjuoyane, the most northerly region of the Svalbard archipelago.

Aug 5: Greenland Sea | Enrichment at Sea
Cruise south through the Greenland Sea as your Expedition Team lectures on the wildlife, history and geology of Svalbard.

Aug 6: Jan Mayen | Glacier-Cloaked Volcano
The day’s planned shore excursion is Jan Mayen, a rugged island dominated by the 7,500-foot Beerenberg Volcano, the world’s northernmost active volcano. With special permission and conditions permitting, land on this rarely visited island to see its meteorological station and discover colonies of northern fulmas, little auk, thick-billed guillemot and black guillemot.

Aug 7: Scoresby Sound | Endless Fjords
Your Captain charts a course across the Greenland Sea, skirting the Arctic ice edge toward Greenland’s rarely visited eastern coast and Scoresby Sound, the largest and longest fjord system in the world. You may embark on Zodiac excursions through the fjord’s intricate network, taking in its islands and icebergs while searching for Arctic and musk fox.

Aug 8: The Denmark Strait | Remote Village
Today, ice conditions permitting, disembark for a visit to the small settlement of Ittoqqortoormiit, one of the most isolated villages in Greenland.

Aug 9: The Denmark Strait | Unwinding at Sea
Cruise the Denmark Strait as you relax or watch for seabirds and whales from the deck between insightful lectures from your Expedition Team.

Aug 10: Husavik, Iceland | Whale-Watching Haven
Today, visit picturesque Husavik and its fascinating whale museum. Supported by A&K Philanthropy, the museum is one of the world’s foremost whale research centres. Afterward, choose to embark on a scenic whale-watching tour followed by free time in Husavik, or perhaps set off for Godafoss Falls and geothermal Lake Myvatn. Tonight, gather for a special farewell reception and dinner.

Aug 11: Iceland’s Westfjords | Lava & Ice-Carved Lands
Explore the Westfjords of Iceland, a remote region of small settlements interspersed amid spectacular mountains and coves. You might make a visit to Dynjandi Falls, the grandest waterfall in the Westfjords. Enjoy a leisurely walk along the shore or take a more vigorous trek to the viewing platform, both offering scenic views of the falls.

Aug 12: Depart Reykjavik
This morning, disembark your luxury expedition cruiser in Reykjavik and transfer to the airport for your onward departure.

Le Lyrial like her sisterships embodies the subtle alliance between luxury, intimacy and wellbeing. The elegance of her exterior and interior lines and her intimate size (only 122 staterooms and suites) make this a rare and innovative yacht on the cruise market.

Interoir Design:
We have been inspired by the destinations we visit and decided to create a subtle variation around a palette of blues. Ranging from the luminous delicate grey-blue of the Polar ice to splashes of the vivid turquoise blue found in Mediterranean coves, it also includes the blue light of the future pole star.

Ship Profile & Stats

  • Passenger Capacity (dbl): 199

Abercrombie & Kent was born on the plains of Africa in 1962 when Geoffrey Kent and his parents pioneered a new style of luxury adventure travel with little more than a reconditioned Bedford truck, a sterling silver ice bucket and a bold vision.

A deep desire to deliver unique and life-changing travel experiences inspired ground-breaking enhancements, from the first luxury tented camps in Africa and mobile refrigeration to operations in Egypt, India, Australia and beyond. From those modest beginnings, A&K has grown into a globe-spanning network of local offices, opening destinations previously inaccessible to visitors and establishing a new benchmark for experiential travel.

Today, we are the world’s premier luxury travel company, with an unrivalled legacy of creating memorable, inspiring adventures in more than 100 countries and on all seven continents. Our approach combines singular service, authentic local expertise and beyond-the-guidebook insider access, all of which come together to create a journey of a lifetime, every time you travel with us.

A&K is the world leader in luxury travel and we offer everything from inspiring tailor-made adventures to Small Group Journeys, Luxury Expedition Cruises and epic Private Jet Journeys. We operate our own safari camps and lodges throughout Africa, cruise ships on the Nile, Yangzi and Irrawaddy Rivers, and maintain a fleet of customised safari vehicles.

We have a deep commitment to the communities our guests visit, funding grassroots projects through A&K Philanthropy. Our reputation and expertise allow A&K travellers private, often exclusive, encounters with local identities, privileged access to museums, archaeological sites and cultural attractions and authentic immersion in a destination which really reveals the spirit of a place and its people. This is the A&K difference and why we are consistently recognised as the ultimate for luxury travel by professionals and guests alike.

We’ve Got the World Covered A&K has over 55 offices in more than 30 countries, a global family consisting of more than 2,500 dedicated and passionate travel professionals. Expertise and passion for authentic discovery is fundamental to our goal of delivering truly inspirational travel experiences.
