Celebrate Christmas in a wonderfully different way on a festive river cruise along the wintertime Seine. This seven-day Christmas journey combines the special atmosphere of Paris with historic towns and picturesque landscapes in Normandy. Illuminated streets, seasonal decorations and peaceful river scenery provide an enchanting backdrop for relaxing festive days on board.
Your journey begins in Paris, giving you plenty of time to experience the French capital dressed for the Christmas season. Sparkling lights, beautifully decorated shop windows, elegant boulevards and world-famous landmarks create a particularly magical atmosphere at this time of year. Late on 22 December, the ship leaves Paris and follows the Seine towards Conflans. Situated at the confluence of the Oise and Seine, the town has been closely associated with inland navigation for centuries. The journey then continues to Vernon, where you begin Christmas Eve surrounded by the historic character of this charming Normandy town on the banks of the Seine.
On the afternoon of 24 December, the ship continues towards Rouen. You arrive in Normandy’s historic capital on Christmas Eve, where half-timbered houses, winding streets and the magnificent Notre-Dame Cathedral create an impressive setting. The ship remains in Rouen throughout Christmas Day, allowing you to enjoy the city and the festive atmosphere at a leisurely pace. Its rich architectural heritage and centuries of history make Rouen a memorable destination for this special time of year.
In the early hours of 26 December, your return journey begins. Les Andelys provides one final highlight along the Seine, with one of the river valley’s most picturesque panoramas. High above the water stand the ruins of Château Gaillard, the medieval fortress associated with Richard the Lionheart, while chalk cliffs and rolling countryside frame the river below.
From Les Andelys, the cruise continues back towards Paris, arriving in the French capital on the morning of 27 December. Festive days on board, historic towns, peaceful winter landscapes and the elegance of Paris combine to make this Christmas cruise a memorable way to celebrate the holiday season while discovering the beauty and heritage of the Seine Valley.
