Whether it’s your first time in Antarctica or a long-held dream finally realized, this voyage promises something rare: the chance to discover the last great wilderness in the spirit of true expedition travel.
St Helena was built for the ends of the Earth, long before Antarctica was on the itinerary.
Constructed in Britain to serve the remote island community of St Helena in the South Atlantic, she spent decades carrying mail, cargo, and passengers to one of the most isolated places on the planet. That history of purpose-built endurance is baked into her hull.
As the cornerstone of the Terra Nova fleet, St Helena carries 98 guests on a ship built for 150. The extra space is not incidental. It shapes everything about the experience, from the quietness of the observation lounges to the pace of zodiac operations ashore. She is also one of the few expedition vessels with an active science programme running throughout every voyage, giving passengers the rare opportunity to contribute to real Antarctic research.
British built, British flagged, and unlike anything else operating in these waters.

Terra Nova Expeditions is a specialist expedition cruise line focused on small-ship voyages to Antarctica and the Southern Ocean. Founded in 2025, the company emphasizes immersive, expedition-style travel with fewer than 100 guests on most departures, allowing for more time ashore and closer access to remote polar environments. Its voyages combine exploration, wildlife encounters, educational programming, and citizen science opportunities, with activities such as kayaking, camping, and trekking included on many itineraries. Terra Nova operates a fleet centred on the 98-passenger St Helena, alongside ultra-small expedition experiences aboard the six-guest sailing yacht Icebird.
