PORTO MIRANTE, 7 Night Douro: A Journey Along the Golden River ex Oporto (Porto), Portugal Return

The journey begins in Porto, the vibrant city on the Atlantic. Colorful houses, baroque churches, and the famous port wine cellars set the scene. From the riverside, the views of Porto’s bridges offer a perfect introduction. The first stop is Leverinho, surrounded by terraced vineyards reaching down to the riverbanks. The UNESCO-listed Douro Valley unfolds in its beauty. In Folgosa, steep slopes and centuries-old vineyards dominate the landscape. The harmony between nature and wine culture is tangible. At Pocinho, the Upper Douro shows its wilder, quieter side: rolling hills, olive groves, and remote villages. From here, the ship sails to Vega Terron, at the Spanish border, where Portuguese and Spanish cultures meet. Returning via Pocinho, the cruise continues to Pinhão, considered the heart of port wine. Traditional wine estates, azulejo tiles at the station, and vine-clad hillsides enchant every visitor. In Régua, the wine capital of the Douro, museums and wine lodges tell the valley’s story while landscapes impress with grandeur. At Entre-os-Rios, where Douro and Tâmega meet, the scenery glows with vineyards, hills, and tranquil river views. The journey ends back in Porto, with lasting impressions of culture, wine, and stunning river landscapes.

The PORTO MIRANTE is specially adapted to the special features of the Douro and its locks and will make its maiden voyage in 2024. It offers space for 120 guests in 60 double cabins. The upper and middle decks have French balconies and all cabins face outwards.

On board the PORTO MIRANTE, guests have access to two restaurants and a fitness room with state-of-the-art equipment. In addition, the newest Douro ship in the fleet has a panoramic lounge with bar and a skylounge that extends over two decks. Other features of the ship include an on-board store, a spacious sun deck with a pool and sun loungers. An elevator connects all decks (except the sun deck). The ship is fully air-conditioned.

There are 24 spacious cabins on both the Diamond Deck and the Ruby Deck, each with a French balcony inviting you to enjoy the beautiful view. On the Emerald Deck, the 2-bed cabins have windows that cannot be opened. All cabins are perfectly equipped with a flat-screen TV, included minibar, Nespresso® machine, beauty products from RITUALS® (or comparable), hairdryer, safe, air conditioning, shower and WC and leave nothing to be desired.
