9 Nights from Cologne to Cochem, Trier-Mehring, Bernkastel-Kues, Koblenz, Nijmegen, Amsterdam (Lelystad*), Rotterdam, Harbor tour Rotterdam and Emmerich to Cologne.

Day 1: Cologne
Welcome to Cologne! The typical friendliness that you find at every turn makes visitors feel at home right away. It’s not unusual to quickly get chatting to strangers and even go for a couple of glasses of Kölsch with them. The main landmark – Cologne Cathedral – watches over the whole city. It is the third-tallest church building in the world, at 157.38 metres. It might be a bit of a trek up to the top of the tower, but it’s worth it. You’ll be rewarded with an unforgettable view of the city and the Rhine spread out before you.

Day 2: Cochem
Cochem, on the bank of the Moselle, is another port of call on your Rhine cruise, which will take you onto the Moselle. The entire Moselle region around Cochem is a real sight to behold. The town’s landmark is undoubtedly the famous Reichsburg, a splendid castle that towers above the river. But did you know that the West German government had a secret bunker built here for its federal bank? Strange, but true! And you’ll have the opportunity to visit it during your river cruise.

Day 3: Trier-Mehring
Trier lies right in the Moselle valley, a region characterised by the typical Moselle vineyards. The city boasts many churches, castles and palaces, plus a wealth of historic monuments – with UNESCO World Heritage status. Enjoy your time in the city, explore the Moselle valley and learn about the history of Rhineland-Palatinate. And as another lovely day draws to a close, you can look forward to the next picturesque port of call.

Day 4: Bernkastel-Kues
Experience the unforgettable atmosphere of a picturesque old town full of history and culture, as your Rhine cruise takes you along the Moselle. Enjoy award-winning wines from well-known sites – whether in one of the cosy wine bars, in a rustic wine tavern during a wine-tasting session with a winemaker, or during a tour of the steep vineyard slopes.

Day 5: Koblenz
Koblenz is where you’ll find Roman history, a high-tech research hub and a buzzing cultural scene all in one place. Don’t miss the delightful Kaiserin-Augusta-Anlagen, the southern part of the Rhine promenade. It was turned into a landscaped park with artistic historical monuments and sculptures between 1856 and 1861. If you fancy a treat, try Debbekooche. Originally eaten by those who couldn’t afford goose on Saint Martin’s Day, it is now considered a regional speciality and is traditionally served with apple sauce. Delicious!

Day 6: Nijmegen
Did you know that Nijmegen is the oldest city in the Netherlands? You only need to cross the Waalburg arch bridge into the centre to understand why the 160,000 inhabitants are so proud of their city: the Waalkade wharf and the silhouette of the city-centre buildings combine to form a truly impressive sight. In this Hanseatic city, tradition and modernity go hand in hand.

Day 7: Amsterdam (Lelystad*)
Few European cities are as diverse as Amsterdam, with its multicultural charm, relaxed atmosphere, historic canal district and the highest concentration of museums in the world. Don’t miss the Van Gogh Museum or the Rijksmuseum, which was restored to its former glory several years ago following a decade-long renovation project. Follow the locals’ example and explore by bike or take a trip along the canals and discover Amsterdam from the water.  *In individual cases, the local authorities in Amsterdam may not confirm the reserved berths. If no berth is allocated, our guests will be provided with a shuttle bus to Amsterdam.

Day 8: Rotterdam
Rotterdam is the second-largest city in the Netherlands, after Amsterdam. Known as ‘Manhattan on the Maas’, it has a more urban and international atmosphere than anywhere else in the whole country. Be prepared to be amazed by the fantastic skyline, featuring the the Erasmusbrug bridge. Rotterdam is home to Europe’s largest port, as well as being a major transport hub. It’s no surprise that this is a centre of contemporary architecture, featuring the famoust Kijk-Kubus, and the Witte Huis, which was the first skyscraper in Europe. Several impressive new skyscrapers have sprung up over the past 20 years.

Day 8: Harbor tour Rotterdam
The Ijsselmeer is an inland lake that was created by diking the Wadden Sea and the Zuiderzee bay. This is where you’ll find the lovely little town of Hoorn – make sure you explore it during your cruise along the northern Rhine.

Day 9: Emmerich
The small beautiful town of Emmerich on the lower Lower Rhine gives you a nice time out on land during your cruise. Here you can take a stroll along the promenade and enjoy the magnificent view of the Rhine while discovering the “Golden Gate Bridge of the Lower Rhine”, a suspension bridge spanning over the Rhine, which, just like its role model, can be seen from afar in vibrant red. Definitely worth taking a souvenir photo!

Day 10: Cologne
Welcome to Cologne! The typical friendliness that you find at every turn makes visitors feel at home right away. It’s not unusual to quickly get chatting to strangers and even go for a couple of glasses of Kölsch with them. The main landmark – Cologne Cathedral – watches over the whole city. It is the third-tallest church building in the world, at 157.38 metres. It might be a bit of a trek up to the top of the tower, but it’s worth it. You’ll be rewarded with an unforgettable view of the city and the Rhine spread out before you.

Whatever you’re looking for on vacation – you will find it on board the A-ROSA cruise ships on the Rhine. Those seeking privacy & relaxation must visit the peaceful ambiance of the SPA-AROSA.

On the Sun Deck, there is an outdoor pool, shuffleboard and putting green. Leaving your daily lives behind and the stress that sometimes comes with it may be the best part of any vacation. The casual and friendly atmosphere onboard, along with the beautiful countryside around every bend of the river hastens your desire to let go and just enjoy.
