6 Night cruise departing from Da Nang to Ho Chi Minh onboard Panorama II. Hotel stay pre-cruise in Hoi An.

Explore Vietnam’s gorgeous southern coast on a comfortable small-ship adventure

It’s a delight to explore Vietnam on foot, but a small-ship adventure cruise sheds a whole new light on this beloved Peregrine destination. Set off for a week of discovery and leisure along the tranquil blue waters of Vietnam’s south coast. Dropping anchor in Hoi An, Nha Trang, Quy Nonh, Phan Tiet and more, encounter blazing sand dunes, centuries-old Cham architecture, age-old arts and crafts, and bays brimming with brightly coloured tropical fish and coral. With spacious sun decks, plush cabins and Vietnamese cuisine of the highest calibre to feast on along the way, this Peregrine small-ship adventure cruise is South East Asia done in style.

Itinerary:

Day 1 Hoi An
Welcome to Vietnam. Make your way to your hotel in Hoi An and the evening is yours to explore the town by night.

Day 2 Hoi An
The charming city of Hoi An was originally a Cham port town, but has been influenced by a myriad of traders from various cultures over the ages. With its low tiled houses and tranquil feel, this is a delightful town to walk around. You’ll notice a distinctly Chinese appearance here, with pagodas and assembly halls scattered along the small lanes. Embark on a morning tour of the town with local guides or if you prefer, take part in an optional cooking class or bike riding tour of the town. The night is yours to enjoy the culinary delights of Vietnam.

Day 3 Hoi An
Continue your exploration of Hoi An, or perhaps have your final fitting for your tailored purchases. In the early afternoon, you will be transferred to the Panorama II moored in Danang. After a welcome meeting and safety briefing, enjoy your first meal on board before setting sail.

Day 4 Cruising
Enjoy a relaxing day of cruising around the Dao Ly Son Island, a location just south of Danang that’s known for garlic production as well as its attractive shoreline. Also visit some mainland coastal beaches today. There will be time for some swimming off the Panorama II, as well as kayaking, snorkelling and stand-up paddleboarding.

Day 5 Quy Nhon
Visit the museum dedicated to Quang Trung, a revered emperor who ruled in the late 1700s and was a forerunner to the Vietnamese nationalist movement. After witnessing a Tay Son martial arts demonstration, head over to the Twin Cham Towers, some of the largest in South East Asia. After visiting some beautiful beaches where fisherman drift along in traditional basket boats, dine aboard the Panorama II and sail toward Nha Trang overnight.

Day 6 Nha Trang
Arrive in Nha Trang at around 8 am. Nha Trang has been referred to as the ‘Cannes of the Orient’, thanks to its cosmopolitan seaside atmosphere, but the star of the show is of course the beach and bay itself. Your tour leaders will take you on a walking tour of the highlights of Nha Trang. The afternoon is yours to explore independently. The night is then spent at port.

Day 7 Phan Rang
Travelling by bus, embark on a road trip from Nha Trang to Phan Rang. Pay a visit to the grand Po Klong Garai Cham Towers, an elaborate work of architecture dating back to around 1400 under King Jaya Simharvarman III. Head to Bau Truc, the oldest pottery village in South East Asia, and see some traditional pottery methods at work (this is a great place to buy a unique souvenir). Reboard the Panorama II at Phan Rang and set sail at 10 pm for Phan Tiet.

Day 8 Phan Tiet
Travel to Tra Cu for a cable car ride to the Linh Son Truong Pagoda. Here you’ll find an impressive reclining Buddha statue. At 49 metres long and 11 metres tall, it’s the largest reclining Buddha in Vietnam. Also make a visit to Fairy Spring, a lovely waterfall amid the dunes. Take a stroll along the sand dunes of Mui Ne, an amazing geological wonder – the kind not usually associated with Vietnam. Sand-sledding is a popular pastime here, but it’s enough to simply gaze at and snap photos of this enchanting landscape. Return to the boat for the overnight sail to Ho Chi Minh City, departing at 4 pm.

Day 9 Ho Chi Minh
Arrive in Ho Chi Minh City at 7 am. After breakfast, disembark as the trip comes to an end.

Launched 2004 and fully renovated in 2015, the Panorama II is your home on the seas. All cabins are finished with handsome wood trims and equipped with modern amenities – including air conditioning and mini-fridge – for your comfort. The restaurant area at the lower deck offers the perfect setting for meals, while the upper deck offers dining al fresco, and is a great spot to soak up the sun with a book.

Our name stems from the word ‘Peregrinate’, meaning to migrate, walk or take a pilgrimage – very fitting for our beginnings as a trekking company. Since our inception, we’ve broadened our horizons and now offer small group journeys in over 80 countries across all seven continents, which can be enjoyed by anyone with an enquiring mind who enjoys getting off the beaten track (without forgoing some of the comforts of home).

Introducing a new a style of travel – a premium cruise without the premium crowds. Think less on-board casinos and more island hopping along the Dalmatian Coast, Cyclades port stops for grilled octopus and fresh olives, or dropping anchor for a swim in some secluded Cuban archipelago. This is Peregrine’s small ship adventure cruising. Welcome aboard.

Conventional big ship cruising is all about life on the boat. What to eat, what to do, which show to catch. Adventure cruising is more about the destination: stopping at little islands the big ships can’t reach, exploring local markets and trying fresh produce, learning a place’s history and culture from local guides who know it best.

These journeys are designed to be low impact. That means there’s fewer passengers on-board, less stress on local communities, and each trip is carbon offset through a range of renewable energy projects. And while the big boats moor out at sea and ferry passengers to land by tender, we can sail straight into port. You can hop on or hop off as you like. It’s convenience and comfort, all in one.
