7 Night Cruise sailing from Lisbon to Dublin aboard Star Legend.

Experience the natural coastal splendors and the treasures of Europe’s lesser-known small ports on this 7-day cruise that winds along the coasts of Portugal, Spain, Britain, and Ireland. This memorable journey begins in Lisbon near the ivory medieval Belém Tower, one of the last friendly crenelated fortifications Portuguese explorers and seafarers glimpsed before sailing into the unknown during Portugal’s Age of Discovery. Spend the night in Porto and listen to the strumming of Old World mandolin-style guitarra portuguesas accompanied by folk vocalists during a Porto fado performance. Sip a nightcap of dark and smoky aged port or bright, white Vinho Verde. Sample spicy, fried tapas paired with bright, local dry white wines or robust blended Spanish reds in El Ferrol. Follow painted and sculpted scallop shells to the steps of Santiago de Compostela, the ultimate goal of Christian pilgrims for over 1,000 years. Wander the quiet corners of Tresco Abbey Gardens, a 17-acre subtropical garden built on the 1,000-year-old ruins of a Benedictine Abbey. If maritime history is more your thing, take a stroll through the Valhalla Museum among the extensive array of old figureheads recovered from centuries of sailing and steamship shipwrecks. Before your cruise arrives and disembarks in Dublin, you’ll sweep past the rocky shores and green fields of Hook’s Head, and catch glimpses of rural settings that have changed little over scores of generations. Master the perfect pour after a tour of the Guinness Brewery in Dublin, or learn personal accounts of art, music, fashion, politics, and sports in interactive exhibits featuring former and current Irish citizens who have made lasting impressions on our contemporary world at EPIC, Dublin’s interactive and highly immersive museum on Irish emigration.

Highlights of this cruise:

Lisbon
The rhythm of Lisbon invites you to join its captivating dance. This splendid capital city on the banks of the Rio Teja offers a warm welcome and an unparalleled blend of architectural styles. Elegant outdoor cafés line the cobbled sidewalks. Turn-of-the-century funiculars climb the scenic hills. Find the UNESCO sites of the Tower of Belem and the Monastery of the Hieronymites. And, everywhere, the city engages you with its easy style and remarkable charm.

Oporto
Built into the granite cliffs at the mouth of the Rio Douro, the hilly city of Porto presents a heady juxtaposition of eras and styles. Here, medieval alleyways, orderly neighborhood squares, and ornate Baroque churches readily intermingle. Porto’s historic heart is a UNESCO site of winding lanes, zigzagging staircases and tiled churches. The highlight, though, is a taste of port wine at its best – a happy accident dating from the 17th century when brandy was discovered to preserve wine for transit. After your choice of palate-pleasing shore excursions, return for an onboard fado folk music performance.

Dublin
Dublin is a city of delights and surprises. Stroll across the Ha’Penny Bridge to Trinity College for a glimpse of the Book of Kells. Step inside the 11th century Dublin Castle. Stop by the Guinness Storehouse or Old Jameson Distillery for a taste of Irish history. And embrace the beauty of Dublin Bay, a UNESCO Biosphere Reserve.

With only 212 guests, a Star Legend cruise will make you feel like you’re on board your own private yacht almost as soon as you step aboard.

The sitting area of your spacious, newly refurbished suite gives you an expansive ocean view — making it a welcome retreat.

When you’re ready to make an appearance, the lounges, club, casino and library are waiting to be explored. Take some “you” time in the tranquil WindSpa . . . enjoy a dip in the pool . . . work off that decadent dessert in the Fitness Center . . . and, of course, you are always welcome to visit the Bridge to examine navigation charts with the Captain.

Star Legend is large enough to pamper and entertain you, yet small enough to tuck into delightful tiny harbors and hidden coves that others can’t reach.

RENOVATION IN 2020
Starting 02/20/2020, this all-suite ship will undergo a complete renovation as part of the $250 Million Star Plus Initiative to provide more of what our guests love. New public areas, including a two new dining venues, a new spa, infinity pool, and fitness area. The ship also boasts all new bathrooms in every suite and a new category of Star suites, featuring a new layout. With ocean-views and over 277 square feet of comfort, Star Legend is the perfect ship to watch glaciers and fjords drift by from the serenity of your suite.

Carrying only 312 guests (after rennovation), Star Legend still tucks into small ports like Le Lavandou and Wrangell or narrow waterways like the Corinth and Keil Canal. We can’t wait to welcome you onboard for your next 180 degree from ordinary adventure!
