Timeless Kimberley: Ancient Land, Modern Adventure – Your 11-Day Adventure Through Australia’s Last Wilderness
Welcome to your Kimberley expedition—where ancient landscapes meet modern adventure, and every day brings discoveries you’ll share with just 30 fellow explorers.
Over the next 11 days, you’ll navigate waters that have remained virtually unchanged for millions of years. Our ‘boutique’ sized vessel allows you to experience all of the visitor sites along the Kimberley Coast, 75% of which are inaccessible to other ships and operators, opening up a world of new discovery.
This isn’t passive sightseeing—you’ll fish pristine estuaries for barramundi, walk among 50,000-year-old rock art galleries, and swim beneath cascading waterfalls where few humans venture.
Each morning brings new possibilities shaped by 14-metre tides, weather patterns, and wildlife movements. You’ll join our expedition team in explorations of hidden gorges, cast lines in remote fishing spots known only to pearl lugger captains, and witness phenomena like Montgomery Reef emerging from the ocean as billions of litres drain away with the falling tide.
From tracking saltwater crocodiles in pristine mangrove systems to discovering Gwion Gwion paintings that predate European civilization by millennia, every experience becomes part of your shared story. Our small expedition community—just 30 guests aboard Paspaley Pearl—means you’ll actively participate rather than simply observe, whether you’re hauling in your catch for tonight’s dinner or following ancient songlines with traditional owners.
This is expedition travel as it should be: immediate, authentic, and utterly immersive. Your Kimberley adventure begins the moment you step aboard.
Day 1: Broome – Journey Begins
Board Paspaley Pearl this afternoon and meet your fellow adventurers over welcome cocktails. Join our expedition team for your first briefing as we chart tomorrow’s course.
Day 2: Buccaneer Archipelago – Island Paradise and Marine Encounters
Explore 800 pristine islands where green sea turtles nest on secluded beaches. Launch expedition vessels to discover hidden caves and fish for Spanish mackerel. Tonight, share farewell stories under brilliant stars in your final secluded anchorage.
Days 3-4: Collier Bay – Tidal Phenomena and Whale Encounters
Witness Horizontal Falls where massive ocean volumes create standing waves, and watch Montgomery Reef’s 400 square kilometres appear to rise from the sea. Between July-September, encounter humpback whales as over 70,000 individuals use these waters as calving grounds.
Day 5: Kuri Bay – Exclusive Access to Paspaley’s Pearl Farm
Experience the world’s premier pearl operation firsthand during an exclusive behind-the-scenes tour. Watch pearl technicians tend oysters, handle live pearl shells, and discover how the world’s most beautiful South Sea pearls develop in these pristine waters 370 kilometres from civilization.
Day 6: Prince Frederick Harbour – Into the Heart of Pristine Wilderness
Venture deep into pristine river systems where saltwater crocodiles rule and 18 mangrove species create underwater forests. Navigate hidden creeks, fish for barramundi in tidal reaches, and swim in crocodile-free freshwater streams.
Days 7-9: Bonaparte Archipelago – Hidden Islands and Secret Bays
Explore a maze of 150 islands and adjacent mainland over three adventure-filled days. Board expedition vessels for intimate explorations of hidden coves, cast lines for queenfish, walk pristine beaches, and discover ancient art sites. Each evening, gather on deck to plan tomorrow’s adventures based on tides and wildlife.
Day 10: King George River – Waterfalls and Ancient Stories
Navigate towering red sandstone gorges to Western Australia’s highest waterfall, where twin 80-metre cascades thunder into the river below. Our expedition vessels will take you beneath these towering walls, where you will feel the spray from Western Australia’s highest waterfall and capture photographs that will amaze friends back home.
Day 11: Wyndham – Journey’s End
Disembark Paspaley Pearl carrying memories of pristine wilderness, ancient cultures, and remarkable wildlife encounters shared with just 30 fellow adventurers in Australia’s last true frontier.
