12 Night Cruise sailing from Benoa to Singapore aboard Silver Discoverer.

Embark on a voyage into a brilliant world of wild animals and fiery volcanoes. The brooding, active volcano of Mount Bromo, and chalky blue waters that fill Ijen Crater, await to stir your senses. Elsewhere, experience the frenetic action of bull racing in Madura, see orang-utans in the wild, and meet one of nature’s more unusual evolutionary whims – floppy nosed proboscis monkeys.

Highlights of this cruise:

Bali really is as alluring as everyone says. This island, slightly bigger than Delaware, has it all: beaches, volcanoes, terraced rice fields, forests, renowned resorts, surfing, golf, and world-class dive sites. But what sets Bali apart from other nearby tropical destinations is Balinese tradition, and villagers dedicated to celebrating it. The hundreds of temples, dances, rituals, and crafts linked to their ancient Hindu faith aren’t a show for tourists, but a living, breathing culture in which visitors are warmly received by the Balinese, who cherish their own identities.

Tanjung Wangi
The port of Tanjung Wangi on the eastern tip of East Java provides access to the culture-rich city of Banyuwangi; the capital city of the regency of the same name. Tanjung Wangi is an active port hosting a ferry service between the islands of Java and Bali. It is also the main jumping-off point for the Baluran and Alas Purwo National Parks. The port is located in a volcanically active area below the breathtaking Ijen plateau with its stunning mountainous scenery.

Sumenep is sleepy town located on the eastern side of the island of Madura. Sumenep and the surrounding areas are home to a number of traditional arts and crafts – among them the production of Keris (daggers), batik, woodcarving of the Karduluk style, and the Muang Sangkal dances. Sumenep is also known for timeworn villas and historic buildings including the Sumenep Great Mosque and the Palace (Keraton) of Sumenep. The island of Madura may be most famous for its bull races, which are opened with the performance of Saronen, a traditional Madurese music.

Semarang is one of the oldest cities in Indonesia, situated on Java’s north coast between the shore of the Java Sea and a small ridge of mountains. Ceded to the Dutch West India Company in 1677 by King Amangkurat I in payment of his debts, it became their headquarters and the seat of the Dutch governor of the northeast provinces. Semarang’s usefulness as a port waned due to the gradual silting up of the harbor; by the 19th century, Surabaya had eclipsed Semarang as Java’s premier port.

The main island of Singapore is shaped like a flattened diamond, 42 km (26 miles) east to west and 23 km (14 miles) north to south. Near the northern peak is the causeway leading to West Malaysia—Kuala Lumpur is less than four hours away by car. It is at the southern foot where you will find most of the city-state’s action, with its gleaming office towers, working docks, and futuristic “supertrees,” which are solar-powered and serve as vertical gardens.

Silversea’s loyal following of adventure travellers can now explore the remote archipelagos of the vast Pacific aboard the sleek, 116-guest Silver Discoverer cruise ship. She’s the perfect platform for viewing these untamed landscapes, with all ocean-view suites and plenty of deck space so that a breaching whale or a pod of dolphins is always within sight. Silver Discoverer’s shallow draft allows her to navigate closer to shore, and with a fleet of 12 Zodiacs, guests can land on isolated shores and explore wetlands and submerged ecosystems, up-close and in-depth.
