Scotland in spring can be a truly exhilarating and revitalising experience. Clear days which accentuate the freshness and colourful splendour of nature regenerating, while snow-capped mountains add a photogenic reminder of a striking winter landscape.
This cruise reveals some of the best kept secrets of the Inner Hebridean Islands. Leaving Oban in your wake, berth in Tobermory Bay where the picturesque capital of Mull is your afternoon port of call. Isle of Mull Cheese is the island`s only dairy farm, using traditional methods to produce artisan cheeses. Their newly-opened distillery uses by-products from the cheese making to produce a whey-based spirit. The Small Isle of Eigg offers the opportunity to explore this community owned nature reserve, ahead of an afternoon visit to Inverie - home of mainland Britain`s remotest pub, The Old Forge. At Armadale on Skye, view the romantic ruins of the seat of Clan Donald and immerse yourself in their epic story at the Museum of the Isles. Ashore on the sacred isle of Iona, take time to reflect on the influence of the religious colonists who landed here and established a seat of Christianity in 563, before discovering Oban on a walking tour which takes in the panoramic vistas from McCaig`s Tower at the top of Battery Hill. This impressive folly was built in 1897 by local banker John Stuart McCaig to provide work for local stonemasons.
