Looking ahead to Japan in 2023
As the world slowly starts to open, it’s time to start allowing ourselves to look forward to trips to incredible places like Japan. That quietly bubbling in your heart that we’ve all been suppressing for so long.
We’re anticipating that you will be as excited as we are at that prospect dear reader, and with that in mind we have created a unique offer just for our guests to the world of contrasts that is Japan…
In partnership with ultra luxury brand – Seabourn, we’ve curated our new “Jewels of Japan” bonus offer. Featuring the incredible 14 night itinerary above, this trip on Seabourn Odyssey is a journey like no other. Here are a small sample of the delights awaiting you.
Begin your journey with a complimentary stay in Osaka for two nights (it’s on us!). This city is known for it’s shopping and is the 2nd largest city in Japan, but it is also known for it’s archaelogical importance and focus on the traditional elements of Japanese culture.
On April 22nd, 2023, we will transfer you to the port of Kobe, where you will join your home for the next 14 nights – Seabourn Odyssey.
This ultra luxury ship hosts up to 450 guests and offers delicious dining, world-class entertainment and enrichment activities, all in a casual, yet elegant onboard environment.
Takamatsu is located on Shikoku – where you will find the beautiful oasis – Ritsurin Keon Garden, with a folk museum, rest houses and tearoom scattered amongst the lakes, hills and grooves of cherry trees.
April 23, 2023
Just like Hiroshima a few days before, Nagasaki was also a target for a plutonium bomb and on August 9th, 1945, the devastation was horrific.
Now rebuilt, and with a thriving industrial and shipbuilding economy, Nagasaki attracts visitors with it’s beautiful natural habour and those who wish to honour the memories of those left behind – lest we forget.
On April 28th, you will arrive at Tsuruga port and during an optional excursion, why not take a trip out to Maruouka Castle – one of only twelve castles remaining in Japan.
Step back in time (and the 230 steps between the boat and the entrance) into the fuedal world of ancient Japan.
Hakodate is your port of call on May 1st, where you can find Japanese Macaques in hot springs at Yunokawa.
Also worth a visit is Goryokaku, a 150-year old star fortress which holds the Magistrate’s Office and is an excellent example of traditional Japanese architecture. The Goryokaku Tower gives a wonderful panoramic view from the observation platform.
While in the port of Kushiro on May 2nd, why not visit the Ainu Koten Museum with a replica village and folklore performances? Or even the Japanese Crane Reserve…
Blessed by a protective range of mountains and a relatively warm ocean current, Kushiro gets less than a third of the winter snow of its Hokkaido neighbor Sapporo, and twice as much sunshine as the nearby Kuril Islands.
Your cruise ends in Yokohama on the 6th of May 2023, after which we will transfer you to Tokyo for a complimentary 2 night hotel stay.
Is two days enough to discovery Japan’s heaving metropolis? Probably not, but it will give you a chance to sample her delights and plan your next trip back to Japan!
