The beauty, grace and freedom of an Adriatic voyage aboard a majestic sailing ship has been coupled with a land tour that showcases the prettiest villages and lakes in Italy.
The unique summer land and cruise package has been released by Australian small ship specialist, Cruise Traveller, in partnership with Star Clippers, and comes with savings of A$1450 per person, two free nights in Rome and free onboard spending money for bookings made by November 15, 2024.
Cruise Traveller’s new 27-night ‘Italian Indulgence and Adriatic Treasures’ land and sea package begins on June 18, 2025, with a free night in Rome before guests join a 12-night, small-group land tour across Italy.
The tour is a feast for the senses, taking in the pastoral beauty and rich history of Umbria and Tuscany, with guests joining in the cooking of a traditional Italian feast while staying in a Tuscan villa nestled amongst the region’s beautiful, rolling hills. At Alba, near Turin, a local farmer will help guests hunt for gourmet truffles. The overland tour also includes the Renaissance wonders of Florence and Pisa, the pastel-hued house of the Italian Riviera, the glitz and glamour of the shimmering Italian Lakes and the romance of Verona before the tour ends in Venice, for a two-night stay, with free time to roam along the canals.
The adventure then takes to sea with an 11-night voyage from Venice to Rome aboard the famous, four-masted sailing ship, Star Flyer. Reflecting the heritage of the golden era of sailing ships and carrying just 166 guests, the graceful, 21-sail Star Flyer fuses the luxuries of today with the traditions of the past, with its giant, billowing sails, gleaming mahogany, polished brasswork, teak decks, two pools, restaurant, chill-time bars, Edwardian library, gourmet cuisine, friendly crew and an onboard ambience that is relaxed, casually elegant and free of crowds.
With wind in their hair and the sound of lapping waves as a calming soundtrack, guests will sail through the blue Adriatic and along the sun-kissed Dalmatian coast of Croatia, and the romance of Amalfi from which a side trip can be made to the nearby cliffside village of Positano, billed as the prettiest town in the Mediterranean. The holiday ends with a free night in a hotel at journey’s end, Rome.
