Five (EXCITING) new destinations for Ponant in 2021

2021 is shaping up to be Ponant’s best ever year for destinations using their new fleet of smaller expedition styled boutique ships. Here are five that we are very excited about!

One: Madagascar – This 226,917 square mile island is the fourth largest in the world. It is one of the few countries in the world to be considered “Mega-Diverse” making it a must-do for wildlife lovers. Among its resident animals are more than half the world’s chameleons and dozens of species of lemur.

Two: India. Beloved by Mark Twain and boasting one of the largest human populations on the planet, India is a land of contrasts. Vegetarians love the range of delicious dishes on offer and history buffs are never disappointed in the tales of old. India is such a large and diverse country that it usually takes more than one visit to truly appreciate her.

Three: Sri Lanka. Known as the ‘Tear drop of India’ due to it’s shape and position south of India, Sri Lanka was thought to be connected by a land bridge many centuries ago. Previously known as Ceylon and famous for it’s beautiful teas, Sri Lanka is also a history-lover’s dream with the Sigiriya Rock Fortress (UNESCO) site rising 200m above the forest below.

Four: Maldives. So beautiful that you are sure that pictures must be ‘shopped’, the Maldives really lives up to it’s marketing with pristine white beaches and light blue warm seas. Ponant will be heading to the North Male Atoll and a few departures in 2021 that also pair beautifully with other cruises.

Five: South Africa. With 11 official languages and a range of ethnic groups, South Africa is sometimes called the ‘rainbow nation’. Whether you are hankering to take the 850km wine route or are keen to spot the ‘big five’ wildlife, South Africa is an amazing place.
